Vegetable-Stuffed Pastries |
Dough Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
Filling Ingredients (choose what you prefer):
- White cheese or mozzarella cheese
- Chopped spinach (boiled and drained)
- Onion and spices
Preparation Method:
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a bowl, mix the warm water with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbles form.
- Add the oil and salt to the mixture, then gradually add the flour until a smooth dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes elastic.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
2. Prepare the Filling:
- If using spinach, boil it, then let it cool and squeeze out any excess water. Mix it with the cheese.
- Cook the minced meat with onions and spices as desired.
3. Shape the Pastries:
- After the dough has risen, divide it into small balls the size of a tennis ball.
- Roll each ball into a circle. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of the circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges tightly to seal.
4. Baking:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Place the pastries on a greased baking tray. You can brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden color.
- Bake the pastries for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
