Vegetable-Stuffed Pastries

Dough Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast

Filling Ingredients (choose what you prefer):

  • White cheese or mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped spinach (boiled and drained)
  • Onion and spices

Preparation Method:

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbles form.
  2. Add the oil and salt to the mixture, then gradually add the flour until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise for about an hour or until it doubles in size.

2. Prepare the Filling:

  • If using spinach, boil it, then let it cool and squeeze out any excess water. Mix it with the cheese.
  • Cook the minced meat with onions and spices as desired.

3. Shape the Pastries:

  1. After the dough has risen, divide it into small balls the size of a tennis ball.
  2. Roll each ball into a circle. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of the circle.
  3. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges tightly to seal.

4. Baking:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. Place the pastries on a greased baking tray. You can brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden color.
  3. Bake the pastries for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
