  • 2 cups of cooked and drained chickpeas
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp flour (or oat flour)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, grind the cooked chickpeas until smooth.
  2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, and spices (cumin, ground coriander, black pepper, and salt) and process them together with the chickpeas.
  3. Add the flour and mix until the dough holds together.
  4. Shape the mixture into small balls or patties as desired.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, and fry the patties or balls until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.

Serving:

Serve the chickpea kefta with tahini sauce, yogurt, or any dip you like. It can also be served in a sandwich with vegetables.

Note:

You can bake the chickpea kefta in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying it
