Shaiba Tea (Artemisia Tea) is a traditional Moroccan beverage, especially popular during colder seasons. Known for its unique, slightly bitter taste, it’s both comforting and aromatic. Shaiba (artemisia) gives the tea its distinctive flavor and is often used for its soothing properties.
How to Prepare Shaiba Tea:
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon of green tea leaves.
- A small piece of shaiba (artemisia plant), around 2-3 leaves to avoid excessive bitterness.
- Sugar to taste.
- Boiling water.
Instructions:
- In a teapot, add a teaspoon of green tea leaves and rinse them quickly with hot water to remove any impurities.
- Place the shaiba leaves on top of the green tea.
- Pour boiling water into the teapot and let it steep for 3-5 minutes.
- Add sugar to taste, then stir the tea and pour it traditionally by raising the teapot while serving to create a foam.
- Serve hot with Moroccan sweets like Kaab el Ghazal or Ghriba.
