Hot Drink Recipe: Spiced Moroccan Mint Tea
Ingredients:
- 1 liter water
- 2 tablespoons loose green tea or 2 green tea bags
- A handful of fresh mint leaves (preferably spearmint)
- 2–3 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- A small piece of cinnamon stick or a pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)
- A few whole cloves (optional)
Instructions:
Boil Water:
- Bring 1 liter of water to a boil in a kettle or pot.
Prepare the Tea:
- Place the green tea in a teapot.
- Add a small amount of boiling water, swirl to rinse the tea, then discard this water.
Add Mint and Spices:
- Add fresh mint leaves, cinnamon stick, and cloves to the teapot.
- Pour the remaining boiling water into the teapot.
Sweeten the Tea:
- Stir in sugar to taste, or serve with sugar on the side for individual sweetness preferences.
Brew:
- Cover and let the tea steep for 3–5 minutes.
Serve:
- Pour the tea into small glasses, holding the teapot high to create a frothy layer on top (optional for tradition).
